All MSF watches are radio controlled and receive their signal from the Anthorn transmitter. As with all radio controlled watches and clocks, they are accurate to more than ½ second in a million years.

There are a number of transmitters across the globe, each transmitting on a different frequency, MSF watches are designed and manufactured for the UK and operate exclusively on the MSF signal from Anthorn Cumbria. Some models are multi frequency and work also from other transmitters across the world.

The MSF signal from Anthorne is transmitted over a 1000km radius, which more than covers the whole of the UK.

The advantage of the radio controlled watch is that it receives regular updates from the transmitter and therefore always extremely accurate, also the watch will change automatically at the spring and autumn time changes.

If a radio controlled watch is taken outside the transmitter range it will still operate as a highly accurate quartz watch and there is a manual setting facility, to reset the hour for different time zones. When the watch returns within signal range it will automatically update itself.
